Happy Birthday Carter

As I sit here blowing up balloons while my newly 6 year old is still sleeping, I can’t help but think about how much has changed since that first time in the hospital room 6 years ago. I had no idea what to expect when becoming a parent to a sweet little boy for the first time, but let me tell you, it has been an amazing ride. I never knew how much I could open my heart and love someone so much and so selflessly. As we hit each milestone I was so excited to see my sweet boy grow and change and tackle every challenge.

Now he is six.

Why does that seem so old? Is it because he now needs two hands to tell his age? Or that he will officially be in Kindergarten? I don’t know what it is, but he is definitely not a little boy anymore. He is funny, respectful, smart, caring, and a great big brother. 

Like most photographers, my journey started with a camera to take pictures of him and my love for photography just bloomed. So thank you Carter-thank you for making me a mommy six years ago. Thank you for showing me how much love my heart is capable of. Thank you for helping me slow down and enjoy each moment because it will soon pass and be a memory.. Thank you for the inspiration and courage to chase my passion of photography. And thank you for loving me even in my worst moments and giving me love unconditionally. Happy birthday sweet boy.
