Mara and Hernan

When I say going to Colombia was the trip of a lifetime, I mean it totally changed my life. Honestly. I could not believe it when Mara contacted me over a year ago about her wedding in Cartagena and I have been dreaming about it ever since.  I had no idea what to expect when we got on that plane, but it was better than I ever could have imagined. Colombia is beautiful, colorful, very hot, and full of friendly people who graciously smiled at my bad Spanish.

The best part about the trip though, was meeting Mara and Hernan’s friends and family. Kaleb and I were included in all of the wedding activities from visiting Playa Blanca, to going out to eat, and dancing the night away until 2 am at their wedding. Once we got home everyone asked how the trip was and what it was like, but all we could talk about was how much fun we had with the group! This trip truly changed me emotionally and filled me with so much love that I would do it again in a heart beat. So thank you Mara and Hernan for bringing us along to  share in your wonderful celebration, for translating a lot, and for welcoming us with open arms. I hope that these images show the beauty of Cartagena and of course your wonderful wedding day.

Mara and Hernan also got married on Colombia’s Independence Day so there were parades and celebrations all throughout the streets! They were so fun and colorful that I just had to take pictures and share them.
