Northern Michigan Weddings

My favorite week of the year growing up was the week I got to spend up north Michigan at Carp Lake (or Paradise Lake) in a small little cottage with my family and closest friends. We always went up north for the week of the 4th of July to a small resort owned by a dear family friend. I grew up going to Carp Lake with the same group of people as well. Although we didn’t go to the same schools or talk after the vacation was over, every week, we became a close group of playmates, friends, and confidants who swam all day, caught minnows, roasted marshmallows, and played flashlight tag until we had to go to bed. It was up north where I learned how to play euchre, (a big must in my family) spent a week without TV fostering my imagination, and creating lifetime memories with my loved ones. That is why now, I look forward to taking my family each year to my favorite piece of paradise. Northern Michigan has been become a part of who I am. I am not sure I can quite put into words what this one week of vacation has grown to mean to my me and my family, but I can tell you that my children experiencing the “big lake” as we call it, is truly magical. I am sure that if you are reading this and have experienced a Northern Michigan 4th of July at Carp Lake or anywhere in Northern Michigan, you know exactly what I mean.

So when I was able to photograph the wedding of a childhood friend I grew up with during this week in Northern Michigan I was elated. Two of my favorite things in one-Northern Michigan and weddings! If you didn’t see Rob and Kristen’s gorgeous Charlevoix wedding featured on Simply Blue Weddings, you can check it out here! Not only did Simply Blue Weddings (find their amazing work here!) feature Kristen and Rob’s wedding, but also Erin and Tim’s Bowers Harbor wedding. I was so thrilled to be published twice by such a great company like Simply Blue who is promoting Northern Michigan as a destination wedding  spot.

I spent this summer shooting at some amazing Northern Michigan locations like Chateau Chantal, Mackinac Island, Charlevoix, and Traverse City and immediately knew this is where I wanted to spend my summer’s shooting my favorite thing in the whole world, love.
