Portraits

Thank you 2014!

2014 has been an amazing year. This year I shot 17 weddings all over the state of Michigan, 15 seniors, some family and children portraits, and lots of personal memories. I have driven hundreds of miles, walked thousands of steps, met many new and old faces, and I have loved every minute of it. I know I say this all the time, but I did not every in a million years think I would come this far in photography. I took one class in high school and enjoyed it, but never saw myself as artistic. I focused this year on defining what I want this venture to shape into, and have found it. I know that my heart is truly happy when I capture weddings and seniors. I am working in 2015 to focus my energy into those two areas and perfecting my skills (as I am a self-proclaimed perfectionist!)

I have set many goals for myself this year and have come close to achieving them. One huge weight off of my chest is finishing my masters, whew! In the midst of the chaos and beauty, there are also two little boys that are constantly tugging at my legs, holding my hand, drawing on my notes, pushing the buttons on the keyboard and asking who everyone in the pictures are. Balancing work, family, hobbies, and passions is a tough juggling act. I am not sure how I am doing in this aspect, but I know that 2015 can only get better. I realized that not only should I set business goals, but personal goals as well. I want to laugh harder, love deeper, smile more, get frustrated less, have more patience, not worry about the dishes, dance in the living room, and shoot as many hoops with my guys as possible in 2015. I want to live in the moment more and on my phone less.

It is scary saying these things out loud and publishing them for you to view, but you all have let me in to important events in your life time after time and it is my turn to open up to you. After all, it is because of you that I am here. That I can reflect on an amazing year and think about my hopes and dreams for a new year. It is because of you that I have found a passion that I love. So thank you 2014 for giving me an amazing ride. It is with great joy and anticipation that I look forward to seeing what challenges 2015 brings.

Thank you 2014, from the bottom of my heart.

2015, bring it. I am ready.

Cheers!

xoxo
