I have always wanted to shoot a wedding at Cherry Basket Farms because it is one of the best Northern Michigan venues paired with Epicure Catering (a farm to table kitchen) that is the epitome of Pure Michigan. So when Kayla reached out to me to shoot her wedding, I was ecstatic! Kayla had recently been a bridesmaid in a wedding for her best friend that I shot at Fountain Point Resort (another amazing Northern Michigan venue!) and I couldn’t be more humbled that these two brides loved me enough and both booked me. Maybe it is the fact that we are all special education teachers that sparked a connection, or the fact that both Kayla and Bradi are so extremely easy to get a long with, so kind, caring, and welcoming, that working with both of them was a dream!

When I first met Kayla and Steve at their hops farm in Northern Michigan for their engagement session, it was evident to me just how much fun they have together. They laughed and joked during our entire session, and as you will see in their wedding photos, it wasn’t any different. Steve’s only request throughout the wedding planning was to have some duck decor and coincidentally enough, Kayla’s grandfather used to make wooden ducks and carved his name on the bottom of them. From the duck bow tie, to the small duck feathers in the barn, Steve and Kayla’s wedding was filled with the most gorgeous, and most intimate details. But when I think of this wedding, I think of the connection that Kayla and Steve have: it is pure magic and runs deep. The way he looked at her all day from coming down the aisle to their first dance was one I will never forget. I know that they are truly meant to be together and both make each other better. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Pendergast for keeping me laughing all day, crying during the dances (those mother son dances get me every time!), and filled with the best food and desserts a wedding vendor could ever ask for. You definitely have me still believing in magic.
